Selkirk Lake Mobile-park and Campground

New TP Holders

My boy's and I installed locking TP holders in the restrooms today. I know were under tough economic times but taking the rolls of TP from the rest rooms is really "Going" to far. We installed the holders in all of the stalls. One stall in the womens and the mens restroom has two holders. I hope this saves somebody the embarrassment of asking the guy or gal in the next for a few sheets.

4th of July

The 4th of July at Selkirk lake is a an awesome event. There are severel people on our end of the lake that have been entertaining us for several years with some huge Fire Works displays. You can take your boat onto the lake for an unobstructed view or just sit on shore or at the end of your dock for a front row seat to the magic. This years displays were once again spectacular starting around 9:30 PM and not ending until 11:00 PM. The Little secluded lake Geneva puts on a good show which is also visable from the east side of Selkirk lake. My boy's can't wait until next year. 4th of July at Selkirk Lake Video.

Water on

I took my sons Brock and Holden out to the lake to day to turn on the campground water. Once again we drove into rain on the way out. We hung out in the office having a picnic lunch waiting for the rain to pass. We only waited an hour for it to let up enough to start our mission. With Brock and Holdens help I was able to get the water on and the system bleached in record time. The lake level is now the highest i've seen it since the early 90's with more rain in the forcast for later this week we are sure to be at or near all time record water levels. Friday is May 1st so thats the first official day of camping. Happy camping

HIGH WATER

I went to the lake this afternoon to check on the lakes water level. I left Kalamazoo in a steady drizzle to drive into the middle of a down pour about 1 mile north of Plainwell. When I got to the lake I could see from 8th st that the water level was very high. I drove down to the lake shore where the lake was still covered by a thick layer of ice except about 10 feet from shore which was open because the lakes water level had risen at least 16 inches in the last few weeks. If we get much more rain or snow the water will be at a level not seen in 15 years. Like most residents of the lake we left our dock in the lake as we have for 25 years with little problems. The water was 24 inches below the dock last fall but is now 6 inches over. I'll raise it up this spring.

I use a whole array of water devices here at the nursery depending on the size of the plant(s) and how much speed I need to get the job accomplished. This could be a mist nozzle set to deliver a few ounces of liquid per minute to my 4" valves in the…

We use either an Orbit or a Nelson fan spray nozzle. We used the Rain Bird until production was halted. We put extra glue on the face of the Nelson to keep the face from falling off when particles clog the holes.  The Orbit has a little less volume…

Chad, There's as many approaches to grower spreadsheets as there's to growing the plants them selves. First you need to make a list of the things you want from your sheet. Then you need to determine how you want that data to appear on your sheet. Th…

Gerald, I would say go with the Dosatron. We have the older units that we use for portable applications or hanging on our booms. I have one unit that is dedicated for Bonzi applications and others for fungicides or speacial treatments. Get two units…

When blowing out lines with air its more about the volume of air you supply not the pressure to get good results. Heat tape works good in spots that have to be left on in unheated areas.

Selkirk Lake

Heres the link to the Selkirk Lake website that I made. I have a lot of hours working on this site but it has a lot of content. I used Coffee Cup HTML 2008 to design it. I've made a couple of other sites with just two to 4 pages which was easy.

I can't hear what i'm looking at

I have four words of advice for any person thats just starting to grow, has been growing for a long time or is getting back into growing. "Look for whats different" When your growing plants "look for whats different". Find plants that you like and dislike to quickly solve problems. For example I've seen plants under drips grow better then the ones around it. Or the other way around. The plants by the vent came into color slower then the ones away from it. The plants in the hoop hou… Continue

Celebrettes and Celebrations do fine. It is the Sonics and Experimentals and a few Harmonys that curl.

I took another 144 cuttings, dipped in Hormodin (that's what I had) kept them under mist (no regular watering, just mist) put on heat pipes at night and up during day and we have nice little plants with roots that are being moved to 41/2" pots today. Thanks for everyone's help and i think we may try the Decree next year!

The New Guineas are about the same. There are certain ones that are curling and twisting. I am beginning to think it is varietal. I grow breeder's trials so a lot of these are experimental. Although, the commercial ones like sonics are bad. The raising of temps did nothing to help.
Thanks for asking and your help.
Vicky
