That's awesome - directly from the customers! I couldn't agree more on the price. It drives me crazy when I really want to buy something and have NO idea how much it is.
Not scientific Jen but I included this question in my latest customer poll to see what they wanted.
Top five were price, common name, conditions (sun, water, etc), recommendation by employee (Beverly's favorite because) and finally height/width.
I read the article and it is obvious he just doesn't get the whole idea of why they have these gardens in schools. He also doesn't understand gardening and why people garden as a hobby.
I agree with him, going to a class where you can work in a gard…
I am actually working with a local high school which built a greenhouse through a gov. grant. It is in the beginning stages and they need a lot of help. They know nothing. The teacher responsible for the project gave one word of warning, "The hard p…
Ok- first, a little too long to read right now :) got through the first page and i gotta run. BUT who is this guy? Second, hopefully further he would explain that the children are not just out there all day picking vegetables, but rather spend one c…
On its surface, that seems like a no-brainer question. I just read the controversial Atlantic Monthly article about gardens in schools, and I still don't buy that it's a bad thing (see article here: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/201001/school-yard-…
I believe there actually is a commonality...gardeners appreciate fresh, high quality plants and service. In New England, Home Depots are actively aware of the missing link..to maintain product, and service. Having been an independent for many years, my thoughts are; there is enough for both sectors. The independent can maintain relationships, and offer unique variety. That being said, I believe any entity offering live goods should present quality plants, excellence of service, and all will succeed.
Unfortunately I won't be in Louisville this year. We are going on a family vacation to Ecuador, and my kids would kill me if I took a weekend of their trip.
I am ordering a copy of your presentation. I really am sorry I will miss it. There is a magical feeling when you leave Louisville with a "to do list" of great ideas, and a month to do them before the season hits.
Congratulations in your new position as Editor of Today's Garden Center. Ann-Marie, Kevin, Richard, and company did a great job while you were out. It's great to have you back.
Great. I have been planning to watch the movie again. Maybe at least the intro. I'm not much for remembering movies but that one is a classic even for me. I still haven't finished anything on that piece. I have it here in the top of my pile to figure out what to do with it. Glad I sat on it a while. You were a big help.
